Kibbler Knapsack

Single bag knapsack. Hand-sewn throughout as per original. Uses period correct paint. Comes complete with straps. Original is documented to James Kibbler of the 10th Virginia Volunteer Infantry, and is housed at the Museum of the Confederacy. See detailed photos.

Federal Issue Haversack: Tim Welch of LD Haning and CJ Daley have teamed up to produce a run of Federal issue tarred haversacks. The pattern for the haversack is copied from an example in Connecticut. It is made from cotton drill, has the proper size buckle and comes with an inner bag with hand sewn buttonholes.

Confederate Haversack: Copied off of an original in the Museum of the Confederacy identified to Sgt A. H. Bayley, Co D. (Peyton’s Artillery) 18th Virginia Artillery Battalion. The haversack is made from two layers of fabric. The outer layer is cotton duck painted with a period tarring, the inner layer is made from cotton drill. The bag is assembled with a mixture of hand and machine sewing as per the original. The bag itself and the buttonhole are sewn by hand, but the sling is machine sewn. The bag is closed with a japanned tin button. That bag is 11" x 12" in size.
