These imported belts were constructed from a variety of types of leather. Our reproduction is of waxed flesh and treated linen thread per the original. The keeper on this example is seperate and slides on the belt.

LT J.W. Taylor's Sword Belt .

Mr. Taylor served with the 7th SC Battalion (aka Enfield Rifles). The 7th Bttn served along the SC coast, Petersburg and Ft Fisher areas. Original courtesy of the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Museum. Columbia SC.

The original features a 2" roller buckle belt and hardware similar to that seen in federal sword belts. Manufactured with leather dyed black, rough side out. Very durable sensible design. This type of confederate sword belt underrepresented in living history but many similar examples survive. Original does not contain over the shoulder strap so neither does our reproduction.
